Gamescom Asia draws 219,546 visitors and nearly 34 million digital views

Gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show 2026 closed in Bangkok with record international participation, combining a large consumer audience with a growing B2B platform and a digital reach far beyond the exhibition halls. Held from October 29 to November 1 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the four-day event welcomed 219,546 attendees from 113 countries. It also hosted 335 exhibitors and pavilions from 29 countries, compared with 294 exhibitors in 2025.

The event extended well beyond its physical audience. Livestreams and digital content generated close to 34 million views across platforms, giving the show a digital audience more than 150 times larger than its on-site attendance. For the events industry, that combination is important. Large consumer exhibitions increasingly operate across several audiences at once: visitors inside the venue, business professionals meeting behind the scenes and much larger communities following content online. Gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show is particularly suited to that model because gaming already has a strong livestreaming and creator culture. But the results also show how a physical event can use digital content to extend its reach without replacing the value of bringing people together in person.

The 2026 edition occupied 38,519 sqm of event space and brought together business meetings, conferences, product launches, game demonstrations, competitions and entertainment programmes within the same event.

Business Attendance Grew By Almost 24%

The consumer audience produced the largest numbers, but the B2B side also expanded significantly. The business area, held on October 29 and 30, attracted 6,923 business visitors from 78 countries, compared with 5,590 in 2025. That represents growth of almost 24% in one year. More than half of those business visitors, 51%, came from outside Thailand. The exhibitor profile was similarly international. Sixty-four percent of exhibitors came from outside the country, while 20 national pavilions, government agencies and industry delegations represented 12 markets.

These numbers strengthen the event's position as more than a gaming festival for consumers. Developers, publishers, investors and technology companies are increasingly using Bangkok as a meeting point for business across Southeast Asia. The event's Invest Circle and VIP XPerience brought together 509 developers, publishers and investors, up from 418 in 2025.

The programme also included a Reverse Pitch format, where publishers presented directly to developers and explained the types of projects they were looking to fund. This business layer gives the event a different economic value from a purely consumer-focused festival. International participants require flights, accommodation, meeting facilities and hospitality services, while exhibitors bring additional spending through production, logistics and stand operations.

34 Million Views Extended The Event Beyond Bangkok

The digital performance is one of the clearest examples of how major events are expanding their audience beyond physical capacity. Almost 34 million views came from livestreams and other digital content linked to the event. That reach was supported by 720 media partners, influencers and members of the press, creating a large content network around the four-day programme.

The scale matters because physical events have a natural limit. Venue capacity, opening hours and travel costs determine how many people can actually attend. Digital content removes much of that limit. A product launch or stage programme can reach people in different countries within minutes, while creators and media can continue distributing content after the exhibition closes. For organisers, the value is not simply a larger audience number. Digital reach can give exhibitors and sponsors more exposure than physical footfall alone, while also introducing the event to potential future visitors. The model can therefore create two different types of value at the same time: direct interaction inside the venue and global visibility outside it.

B2B And B2C Are Sharing The Same Event Platform

Gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show operates through separate business and entertainment areas, but both sit within the same wider event. The business programme included a conference with 81 speakers from 27 countries across four stages, alongside networking, investment programmes and publisher-developer meetings.

The entertainment programme then opened the event to a much larger consumer audience. Visitors could experience hundreds of games, including titles from international publishers and independent developers. Across the business and entertainment areas, 582 titles were exhibited, including 347 from indie developers. This structure allows different audiences to use the same event in different ways.

A developer may attend to meet investors or publishers. A brand may launch a product to consumers. Media and creators generate content, while fans participate in demonstrations, competitions and entertainment programmes. For the host destination, those audiences can also generate different visitor patterns. Business delegates may arrive earlier and stay for meetings, while consumer visitors create high-volume demand during the public programme. The ability to combine both groups can make a large event more valuable without requiring two completely separate productions.

Bangkok Is Using Gaming As An International Event Platform

The 2026 results also strengthen Bangkok's role in the international gaming event market. The event brought participants from 113 countries and exhibitors from 29 markets, while international delegations included countries from Asia, Europe and North America. This international mix gives Thailand an opportunity to connect its own gaming and creative industries with a much larger global network.

More than 90 Thai games were presented through the Thai Playvilion, supported by Thailand's Digital Economy Promotion Agency and industry partners. But the destination impact goes beyond promoting local developers. Hosting more than 219,000 attendees at a 38,519 sqm event creates demand across hotels, transportation, restaurants, event production and other services. International business visitors add another layer through longer stays and professional meetings.

The event will return to Bangkok from October 21 to 24, 2027, giving the city another opportunity to build on the same platform. For the wider events industry, the 2026 edition offers a useful example of how a mega-event can work across physical, business and digital channels at the same time. The strongest number may be 219,546 people inside the event. But the nearly 34 million digital views show that the audience of a modern mega-event no longer ends at the venue doors.
