According to a statement from Virgin Atlantic, McCord will lead the airline’s finance team, strengthening its financial foundations to support growth, continuing investment in a premium customer experience and developing its strategy for the future. McCord previously served as CFO at London Luton Airport, where he made significant contributions during the COVID-19 crisis by helping stabilize the airport’s financial position, strengthen its strategic and commercial capabilities, improve profitability and lead negotiations to support its long-term capacity expansion.
Virgin Atlantic CEO Corneel Koster said in a statement regarding the appointment: “We welcome Richard to Virgin Atlantic, bringing with him extensive CFO and leadership experience. He will be a great addition to our Leadership Team and Board as we focus on investing in our customers while delivering strong financial returns and value for our stakeholders in the years ahead.”
