The ministry said hotel ranking has been in place since 1992 and was last revised in 2015 under the name TCVN 4391:2015. The ministry noted that after more than 10 years of implementation, certain aspects of the standard needed to be reviewed, updated and improved in light of evolving development practices.
The ministry also released data on the country’s hotel sector. According to the figures, Vietnam has approximately 45,000 accommodation establishments with a total of 800,000 rooms. More than 16,000 of these establishments are hotels, accounting for approximately 550,000 rooms, while the number of hotels classified from one to five stars was recorded at 2,800.
The conference highlighted that the revised hotel ranking standards would retain the values of national standards that have already been proven in practice, while also incorporating new requirements in line with development trends in the tourism sector.
