More than 2,000 hotels in Russia digitize check-in procedures

According to a statement from the department, digital hotel check-in via the MAX app is now available at more than 2,000 accommodation establishments across Russia. Tatarstan, Kuban and the Moscow Region topped the list of regions where MAX is most widely used for hotel check-ins. The top 10 regions also include St. Petersburg, Moscow, Primorsky Krai, Perm Krai and Stavropol Krai, as well as the Tver and Novosibirsk regions.

The digitalization is aimed at improving service quality, while the speed of check-in is considered an important factor when choosing a hotel. Shortening check-in times allows staff to focus more on communicating with guests and providing recommendations about hotel services and local tourist attractions.

Hotels Required to Provide Digital Infrastructure

Under legislative amendments that came into effect on September 1, 2026, the department will require all hotels with more than 50 rooms to provide the technical infrastructure needed to enable guest check-in using Digital ID through the MAX app. Accommodation establishments with fewer than 50 rooms are also advised to develop the infrastructure.
