IHG announces portfolio deal covering 14 hotels in Japan

According to IHG, the deal was made with GCP Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Gaw Capital Group. The deal covers a total of 1,063 rooms and includes 14 hotels in Kyoto, consisting of 12 Garner hotels, one Holiday Inn Express and one unbranded hotel. The hotels will gradually open within 12 months following renovation and rebranding works to introduce the Garner and Holiday Inn Express brands.

The deal was highlighted as one of the largest conversion portfolio deals in Japan in recent years. IHG also noted that Garner is its fastest-growing brand globally, reaching 100 hotels since its launch in August 2023.

The expansion of IHG's portfolio in Kyoto further strengthens its presence in the city and positions IHG as one of the largest international hotel companies in Kyoto.
