Udaipur, one of India’s most established destination wedding hubs, is entering a new phase as growing demand drives prices higher. According to WeddingSutra’s 2026 Luxury and Destination Weddings Survey, leading palace hotels in the city are beginning to exceed the budgets of many affluent clients during peak season. The survey also shows that Rajasthan continues to rank among India’s most preferred destination wedding markets.
Conducted in September 2026, the survey is based on responses from 1,045 wedding planners and industry professionals across 32 Indian cities and eight international wedding destinations popular with Indian couples. The findings indicate that Udaipur’s upper-tier palace hotels are increasingly catering to a narrower customer segment during peak season.
The Price Gap Is Widening for Palace Weddings
Wedding costs in Udaipur vary significantly depending on the property, guest count and season. Market data for 2026 suggests that a mid-range, three-day destination wedding for around 150 guests can cost approximately USD 40,000 to USD 64,000, while prices at lakeside palace hotels can rise several times higher.
For upper-tier palace weddings, full-property buyouts, multi-day accommodation, food and beverage, décor, entertainment and logistics can push total budgets up quickly. Market guides for 2026 indicate that a traditional palace wedding can range from around USD 156,000 to USD 416,000, with more elaborate celebrations exceeding those figures.

Peak-Season Demand Is Driving Prices Higher
The November-January period is one of the busiest seasons for destination weddings in Udaipur. During this period, popular properties can sell out months in advance, pushing up not only accommodation rates but also décor, food and beverage, transport and other supplier costs. Some market data suggests that venue discounts of 25% to 40% may be available during the low season, while such discounts largely disappear during peak periods.
This is not only encouraging couples to consider smaller celebrations. Alternative Rajasthan cities such as Jaipur, boutique heritage hotels and off-peak dates are also becoming more prominent options for couples looking to control costs.
Popularity Is Testing the Destination’s Own Limits
Udaipur shows that popularity does not always translate into unlimited growth in the destination wedding market. When demand becomes concentrated around certain hotels and specific dates, rising prices can begin to push even a destination’s traditional customer base toward alternatives.
As a result, competition is no longer driven solely by the ability to offer more impressive wedding venues. Season management, a broader range of properties across different price segments and the development of alternative wedding locations are becoming increasingly important for destinations seeking to sustain growth.
