Türkiye's 2027 events calendar: 136 of 323 fairs concentrated in just three months

Türkiye's 2027 fair calendar highlights not only the scale of the events sector, but also how strongly organisations are concentrated in certain cities and periods of the year. According to the 2027 Main Fair Calendar published by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), a total of 323 fairs are planned across 31 provinces next year. The calendar includes 99 international, 182 national and 42 local fairs. International events therefore account for approximately 31 percent of the total. However, the most striking feature of the calendar emerges in the way events are distributed throughout the year.

136 Fairs Concentrated in Three Months

In 2027, 46 fairs are planned for both September and November, while 44 are scheduled for October. This means a total of 136 fairs will take place during this three-month period alone. The figure represents more than 42 percent of all events listed in Türkiye's 2027 main fair calendar. Spring will be the second busiest period, with 35 fairs planned for March and 33 for April.

The concentration in autumn is not unique to the 2027 calendar. In TOBB's main calendar for 2026, October was also the busiest month of the year with 52 planned fairs. September had 41 scheduled events, while November had 31. When the two annual calendars are considered together, the September-November period appears to hold a clear weight within Türkiye's fair industry.

More Than Half of the Fairs Will Be Held in Istanbul

The second major concentration in the calendar can be seen in its geographical distribution. A total of 173 fairs are planned in Istanbul in 2027. This represents approximately 54 percent of the 323 fairs scheduled across Türkiye.

Istanbul is followed by Izmir with 31 fairs, Ankara with 23, Antalya with 22 and Gaziantep with 12. Türkiye's leading tourism and business centres therefore stand out in the fair calendar, while a significant gap remains between Istanbul and the other cities. Istanbul's dominance was also visible in the 2026 calendar. TOBB's 2026 Main Fair Calendar included 155 planned events for the city. The increase to 173 in the 2027 calendar shows that Istanbul is set to maintain its central position in Türkiye's fair industry.

One in Every Three Fairs Will Be International

The 99 international fairs included in the 2027 calendar represent another important part of Türkiye's events landscape. International events account for approximately 31 percent of the total calendar and will bring together companies, professional visitors and buyers from a wide range of sectors in Türkiye.

Education ranks first in the sectoral distribution with 56 fairs. A total of 44 fairs are planned in agriculture and livestock, 34 in the food sector and 25 in automotive. The overall number of fairs is also set to increase. TOBB's 2026 Main Fair Calendar included 289 fairs, 96 of which were international. The figure rises to 323 for 2027, representing an increase of approximately 12 percent in the total number of events listed in the main calendar.

A Growing Calendar, A More Concentrated Events Season

On one side, Türkiye has a fair calendar reaching 323 events, with approximately one-third classified as international. On the other, Istanbul alone accounts for more than half of all events, while more than 42 percent of the annual calendar is concentrated in September, October and November.

This picture suggests that, as Türkiye's fair and MICE sector develops, the question will increasingly be not only how many events are organised, but also how effectively they are distributed across different periods of the year and different destinations.
