Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT) Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Thailand’s Ambassador to Qatar Pensom Lertsithichai met on Aug. 13 to discuss travel trends and future market opportunities.
TAT said Thailand aims to expand its tourism ties with Qatar by attracting high-value travelers in areas such as luxury, wellness, medical, family and gastronomy tourism, which offer significant growth opportunities in the Qatari market. The country plans to adopt a “Value Over Volume” strategy in its tourism cooperation with Qatar.
Thailand also aims to strengthen cooperation with Qatar Airways, Qatari government agencies and private-sector partners, while expanding tourism promotion and market data sharing to reach travelers from Qatar and the wider Middle East.
49 Flights Operated Weekly
TAT said 13,603 Qatari visitors traveled to Thailand between July 1 and Aug. 9, marking a 0.52% decrease compared with the same period last year. Qatar Airways operates a total of 49 weekly flights from Doha to Bangkok and Phuket.
