The Calderón Festival began in 2000, coinciding with the fourth centenary of the birth of Pedro Calderón de la Barca, a writer closely associated with Yepes.
Since its first editions, the celebration has evolved into a cultural festival honoring Calderón’s legacy and the town’s historical heritage. In this context, Spain’s Ministry of Tourism declared the Calderón Festival a “Festival of National Tourist Interest.”
