According to a statement from Spain’s Ministry of Tourism, the agreement aims to improve bilateral and international tourist flows, support the development of sustainable, competitive, accessible, resilient and innovative tourism, and promote the exchange of views on tourism policies between two major tourism powers within the EU.
Agreement Valid For Five Years
The agreement will be valid for five years and will be automatically renewed for successive five-year periods, according to the statement. It will promote tourism cooperation across seven areas: international cooperation, the exchange of knowledge and experience, tourism investments, tourism promotion, innovation and digitalization, education and vocational training in the tourism sector, and cooperation within international organizations such as UN Tourism.
Visitors From Greece Increased 33 Percent In 2025
The ministry emphasized that Greece represents an important tourism market for Spain, noting that the number of international tourists arriving from Greece increased by 33 percent in 2025. The market was also described as having significant growth potential, supported by increasingly strong air connectivity and close Mediterranean cultural ties between the two countries, which contribute to growing visitor flows.
