Rene de Monchy, Chief Executive of Tourism New Zealand, released the country’s tourism data for the January-June 2026 period. De Monchy said 3.7 million people visited the country, representing a 5 percent increase compared with the previous year. The statement highlighted Australia, the United States, and China as the leading source markets, with Australia remaining the largest market.
De Monchy said reaching 3.7 million visitors represented positive momentum for New Zealand’s tourism industry. “Tourism New Zealand remains focused on growing high-quality demand and supporting the sector in reaching its target of 3.9 million visitors and $14.4 billion in international visitor spending by June 2027,” he said.
