Mexico welcomes 59.71 million tourists from January to July 2026

According to a statement from the ministry, Mexico welcomed 59.71 million international visitors from January to July 2026, up 7 percent from the same period in 2025. Mexico’s Minister of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora said, “Mexico continues to see positive trends in international tourist arrivals, and these results allow us to approach the end of 2026 with an optimistic outlook. As we move toward a record figure, we are also continuing our efforts to ensure that tourism growth translates into greater economic benefits, employment and well-being for communities.”

Tourist Spending Also Increased

The ministry said tourists arriving between January and July 2026 spent a total of US$21.743 billion, compared with US$21.682 billion during the same period in 2025, representing a 0.3 percent increase.

In July 2026, Mexico welcomed 8.65 million tourists, compared with 8.41 million in July 2025. International tourist arrivals reached 4.41 million during the month, 3.8 percent above the 4.25 million recorded in July of the previous year.

Mexico Could Set Visitor Record By Year-End

Minister Zamora emphasized that the July figures demonstrated Mexico’s strength as a tourism destination, saying:

“The results recorded through July confirm Mexico’s strength as a tourism destination and allow us to anticipate a record year in international tourist arrivals in 2026. This is an extremely positive sign for both the sector and communities that depend on tourism for their livelihoods, as each visitor brings spending, employment and new opportunities for thousands of families.”
