Japan’s Ministry of Tourism announced that 3,148,600 foreign visitors arrived in the country in June 2026, representing a 6.8 percent decline compared with June 2025. The ministry said the decline in demand was mainly due to reduced flights and cancellations caused by typhoons.
According to the report, South Korea was the largest source market, with 787,100 visitors. Taiwan followed with 670,400 visitors, while China ranked third with 340,700 visitors.
One of the most notable declines was recorded among visitors from China. While 798,000 Chinese visitors traveled to Japan in June 2025, the figure fell by 57.3 percent in June 2026.
