According to data published by the GNTB, Germany recorded gains in tourism despite challenging market conditions. June data showed that the number of visitor stays increased by 1.6 percent compared with the same month in 2025. In the first half of 2026, 36.4 million stays were recorded. The occupancy rate of hotels in Germany increased by 1.2 percent in the first half of the year, reaching 65.5 percent.
GNTB CEO Petra Hedorfer said in a statement on the data, “Strong demand from international markets largely offset the economic impact of the conflict in the Middle East in the first half of 2026. By the end of May, the number of international arrivals was 1.8 percent above the previous year's level.”
