In a statement, Etihad Rail said customers across the country have begun incorporating rail travel into their travel plans, with more than 70,000 tickets sold so far. Etihad Rail launched its passenger services on June 30, 2026.
The statement noted that rail travel is also beginning to establish itself as a preferred transportation option for visitors coming to the UAE for holidays and to explore the country. It also stated that passengers generally make their reservations 12 days in advance.
Rail Travel Becomes a Natural Travel Option in the UAE
Etihad Rail Director Azza Al Suwaidi said in a statement: “People are not trying the train simply out of curiosity. They are planning their journeys around the train services. The fact that customers are making reservations almost two weeks in advance shows that passenger rail has become part of the way people organize their travel. This is an important sign that rail is beginning to establish itself as a natural travel option across the UAE.”
