According to a statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism, the exhibition titled “Secrets of Ancient Egypt Revealed: Treasures from Egyptian Museums,” held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from November 18, 2025, to August 31, 2026, welcomed more than 600,000 visitors. The ministry emphasized that the number of visitors reflected the Hong Kong public’s strong interest in ancient Egyptian civilization.
Egyptian officials attended a press conference held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum to mark the conclusion of the exhibition and the start of procedures to return the displayed artifacts to Egypt. Speakers highlighted that the exhibition took visitors on a journey through the history of ancient Egyptian civilization. They noted that the 250 unique artifacts brought from eight different museums in Egypt, transported from the banks of the Nile River to the shores of Victoria Harbour, offered a multifaceted picture of the richness and creativity of Egyptian civilization throughout the ages.
The exhibits included wooden pieces and stone statues discovered at the Saqqara archaeological site; a quartzite statue of King Tutankhamun, weighing approximately 2.7 tons, brought from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir; a granite statue of King Merneptah brought from Luxor; and a gilded mummy mask from the Hurghada Museum, as well as various artifacts reflecting different aspects of daily life and religious beliefs in ancient Egypt.
