Destination wedding market reaches $41 billion in 2025

The destination wedding market has recorded strong growth in recent years. According to The Business Research Company, the market is projected to grow from $41.63 billion in 2025 to $47.85 billion in 2026, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.9%. The market is expected to reach $82.92 billion by 2030.

This growth is attributed to rising spending on upscale weddings, the growing popularity of travel-based celebrations, the increasing influence of lifestyle-focused weddings, the diversification of accommodation and hospitality services, and the early adoption of destination weddings.

What Is the Growth Forecast for the Destination Wedding Market?

The report highlights expectations for rapid growth in the destination wedding market over the coming years. The market is projected to reach $82.92 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.7%.

Key trends during the forecast period include growing demand for luxury wedding experiences, rising interest in celebrations at exotic locations, the increasing popularity of extended wedding events, greater demand for professional wedding planning services, and a shift towards personalized destination ceremonies.

A Key Driver of Growth is Social Media

The growing adoption of social media and artificial intelligence-powered tools is expected to accelerate the future growth of the destination wedding market. Websites and platforms that focus on communication, community-based contributions, engagement, content sharing and collaboration are broadly defined as social media.

Platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook have become deeply embedded in everyday life, making it increasingly difficult to disconnect from the digital world even during some of life’s most important moments, including weddings. Destination weddings, in particular, offer a wide range of opportunities for photography and video content.

For example, according to a January 2024 report by UK-based social media creativity and analytics company We Are Social Ltd., the number of social media users increased by 5.6% over the previous year, while 266 million new users joined social media for the first time during 2023. The growing reach of social media is therefore identified as a factor supporting the expansion of the destination wedding sector.
