According to a statement from Embratur, Brazil’s official tourism board, OECD data showed that the country’s tourism sector grew by 46 percent from 2019 to 2025. In this context, Brazil ranked among the countries that recorded the largest increases in international tourist arrivals in the post-pandemic period.
According to OECD data, the number of international tourists arriving at tourist destinations in the country increased from 6.3 million to 9.3 million between 2019 and 2025. This performance put Brazil ahead of major competitors such as Japan (34 percent), Portugal (20 percent), Spain (16 percent), and France (12 percent).
Embratur President Bruno Reis said in a statement regarding the data: “OECD data shows that Brazil has increased its importance in international tourism. The information in this report is consistent with the number of international tourists, which reached 5.2 million in the first half of this year, the second-highest level of all time. In addition, the foreign exchange revenue generated by these tourists reached US$5.6 billion, representing a 12 percent increase compared with the same period last year.”
