According to a report shared by the Ministry covering the summer months of 2026, 41.87 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation facilities in Austria between May and July. This represented an increase of 3.2 percent compared with the same period in 2025. In July alone, 19.46 million overnight stays were recorded, while the number of tourists arriving in the country increased by 9.3 percent to 5.97 million.
Commenting on the figures, Austrian Tourism Minister Elisabeth Zehetner said, “These figures impressively demonstrate how attractive Austria is as a holiday destination. Despite the intense heat and challenging conditions, more guests are choosing to spend their holidays in Austria. This demonstrates the quality of our businesses, the diversity of the services we offer and the appeal of our regions.”
