According to a report released by ABEA, domestic business events secured by Australia’s convention bureaux are expected to generate US$715 million (A$1 billion) in revenue by 2033. The report covers 806 events scheduled from July 2026 onward, 3,031 event days and more than 451,000 delegates included in the forward calendar.
ABEA CEO Melissa Brown said in a statement about the report: “Business events generate significant economic value, but their impact extends well beyond participant spending. They provide opportunities to support knowledge transfer, research collaboration and innovation, while connecting people and industries across the country. When a conference comes to a city, town or regional center, it increases employment opportunities, confidence and knowledge sharing. There is nothing quite as effective as business events, and our contribution matters.”
